Broken Blood Vessels
CAUSE:
"These are not actually 'broken' blood vessels -- although many refer to them as such -- but dilated blood vessels," says N.Y.C. dermatologist Laurie Polis, M.D. "The most common causes are heredity, anxiety, sun exposure, extreme heat, drinking alcohol, eating spicy foods, and picking at the skin," says New York dermatologist Howard Sobel, M.D.
SOLUTION:
"To avoid them, try not to do anything that might traumatize your skin," says Sobel. "If you have them, have a dermatologist zap them with a diode laser for about $250 per area."
